WeGoDancePrivacy policy

WeGoDance helps dancers find festivals, parties and classes all over the world. We collect as little data as possible and we never sell any personal data.
Who is responsible?
The data controller is the publisher of WeGoDance (see the legal notice). For any question or request: contact@wego.dance.
What we collect
- Without an account: you can browse the calendar, maps and articles without signing up. Our servers keep technical logs (IP address, date, page requested, browser) for security and to keep the service running properly.
- Your account: name, email address, role (dancer, teacher, organiser…), language, password (stored in encrypted form, never readable by us), and whether or not you choose to receive our news.
- Your profile and content: photo, profile information, favourite festivals or "I'm going", events you submit, groups, contacts.
- Messaging: your messages and the photos you send, so they can be delivered to the people you are talking to.
- Notifications: if you turn them on, your browser's technical subscription address.
- Two-factor authentication: if you turn it on, the secret needed to verify codes.
- Your location: only if you tap "Near me" and allow it in your browser. It is used to centre the map on your device and is not saved to your account.
- Ask AI and search: the text of your question is analysed to find results; it is not linked to your account.
Why, and on what legal basis
- Running the service and your account: performance of the terms of use.
- Security and prevention of abuse and bots: legitimate interest.
- Visitor statistics (Google Analytics): only with your consent, given in the cookie banner.
- WeGoDance news by email: only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Meeting legal requirements: legal obligation.
Services that help us
- Hetzner (Germany): website hosting.
- Supabase: database, accounts and files.
- OVHcloud (France): domain names and email.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: bot protection on the sign-up and log-in forms.
- Google Analytics: audience measurement, only after your consent, with anonymised IP address.
- OpenFreeMap: displaying map tiles; Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) and Photon (Komoot): address search when you submit an event.
- GetYourGuide: some pages show activities offered by GetYourGuide in an embedded frame. This content comes from their servers and is subject to their own privacy policy. If you book through this link, WeGoDance may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you.
- Notification services of your browser (Google, Apple, Mozilla, Microsoft): delivering the notifications you have turned on.
Some of these services may process data outside the European Union; such transfers are covered by the safeguards provided for by the GDPR (an adequacy decision or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses).
How long
- Account and content: for as long as your account exists. After a deletion request, data is erased within 30 days, unless the law requires otherwise.
- Inactive accounts: deleted after 3 years without logging in, following a reminder email.
- Technical logs: 12 months at most.
- Notification subscriptions: until they are turned off or expire.
Who sees what
Your name and profile photo are visible to other members. Your messages are visible only to the participants in the conversation. Events you submit become public once approved. We never sell or rent your data.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your data, and you can object to its processing. You can withdraw your consent at any time (the "Cookies" link at the bottom of the page, the unsubscribe link in emails). Write to contact@wego.dance; we reply within one month.
You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr), or with the data protection authority in your country.
Minimum age
You must be 16 or over to create an account.
Security
Encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted passwords, data access restricted by security rules at database level, and two-factor authentication available for every account.
Changes
We may update this policy. If there is a significant change, we will let you know on the website or by email.
